PolyTernal: CNC nesting engine

Early development, not yet available.

CNC nesting, with every nest checked before hand-off. A CNC nesting engine with an independent check on every nest.

How a job flows

Six steps, in order.

  1. Import Reads your DXF. States the units it found, or asks when it cannot tell.
  2. Repair Closes small gaps and fixes shapes, only with your consent.
  3. Nest Rotates parts within the limits you set, keeps the kerf spacing and aims for the fewest sheets.
  4. Check A separate, independent verifier re-checks every nest.
  5. Explain Gives a plain reason for every refusal.
  6. Output A nest report with the sheets (the exporter is still being finished). G-code: in the near future.

Architecture

Today and planned

Placing

PolyTernal places parts onto sheets.

Checking

A separate, independent check re-checks each nest before it is handed back.

Overlaps are caught

Every nest is checked independently before hand-off. Overlaps are caught.

Planned

In the near future: from nest to machine.

Output: A nest report with the sheets (the exporter is still being finished). G-code: in the near future.

The engine in two lines

PolyTernal nests parts onto sheets.

An independent check verifies every nest before hand-off.
